When Kate and I realized we had no candy at 9pm Saturday night what were we to do? Obviously we had to head to Fred Meyer immediately to get some. When driving up our road I looked left down a side-street and saw some awesome sundogs. So, instead of going to the grocery store we drove to Goldstream Valley to take some pictures.


Attempt to get Kate holding up the sundogs. This was the best I could do. The flash completely blew out the sundogs, and no flash left Kate no more than a silhouette.


I find myself staring at the Sun quite frequently up here.
It was a really cool sunset and the sundogs created rainbow colors in the sky for a while as the Sun went over the hills. This is what we saw:

After the Sun set over the hill a huge light pillar remained illuminating the many layers of clouds.

Otis had his own little adventure too. He was permitted a brief supervised trip into the Alaska wilderness (backyard). We noticed that he was completely oblivious to the dogs in the neighbor's yard, the squirrels screaming at him, and the birds squawking over him. There is no chance that this cat gets to go outside on his own.


Otis pretends to be stalking things outside. If there was a mountain lion in front of him he probably would have bumped into it.
